Dubai Metro Lost and Found: How to Get Your Item Back
Left a phone, bag or wallet on a train? Dubai's system is impressively honest and the RTA runs a structured lost and found service — recovery rates are genuinely good if you act fast.
What to Do Immediately
- Tell station staff at the next station or any customer service desk — if you know the train/time and cabin position, staff can often intercept items at the terminus.
- Call the RTA on 8009090 (24/7) and log the loss with: date, time, line and direction, boarding/alighting stations, cabin (Gold/Women & Children/standard), and a description.
- File online: the RTA website and app include a Lost & Found service where you submit the report and track its status.
How Recovery Works
Items handed in are logged and moved to the RTA's lost-and-found holding, where they're stored per RTA policy while matching runs against reports. When your item is found you'll be contacted to collect it with your Emirates ID/passport; valuables may require additional verification. Unclaimed items are eventually handled per RTA/Dubai Police procedures — another reason to report early.
Special Cases
| Lost item | Extra step |
|---|---|
| Nol Silver/Gold card | Balance isn't recoverable (anonymous card) — buy a replacement; see the Nol guide |
| Nol Blue (Personal) card | Registered — block it at nol.ae and transfer the balance to a new card |
| Bank cards / documents | Report to your bank / relevant authority in parallel with the RTA report |
| Phones | Add the IMEI to your report; enable your find-my service before it powers down |
Prevention Beats Recovery
The classic losses happen at the airport stations (luggage shuffle) and on the Burj Khalifa bridge walk (pocket phones + travelators). Pat-check at every tap-out — the gates are a natural checkpoint.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I report a lost item on the Dubai Metro?
Tell station staff immediately, then log the loss with the RTA on 8009090 or through the Lost & Found service in the RTA app/website, giving the date, time, route, cabin and a description.
Can I recover the balance on a lost Nol card?
Only on a Blue (Personal) card, which is registered to you — block it and transfer the balance. Silver and Gold cards are anonymous, so their balance is treated like lost cash.
How long does the RTA keep lost items?
Items are stored under RTA policy for a set period while matched against reports, after which unclaimed items are processed per RTA/Dubai Police procedures — so report as early as possible.
