Dubai Metro Women & Children Cabin: The Complete Guide
Every Dubai Metro train includes a dedicated Women & Children cabin — a reserved section giving women and young children a guaranteed comfortable space at any hour. Here's exactly where it is, who can use it, and the rules.
Where It Is on the Train
The cabin occupies a marked section at the front of the train, adjacent to Gold Class. On the platform, look for the pink floor markings and signage showing where its doors stop — stand there and you'll board straight into it. The rest of the train is open to everyone.
Who May Ride
| Passenger | Allowed? |
|---|---|
| Women (any age) | Yes |
| Children with them (young boys included) | Yes |
| Men and teenage boys | No — AED 100 fine, actively enforced by inspectors |
Use is optional: women can ride any standard cabin, and no extra fare applies — a normal Nol card tap covers it. (Gold Class next door is the separate premium cabin with double fares — details here.)
Why Riders Love It
- Rush-hour breathing room — noticeably calmer than the packed standard cars at peak times.
- Stroller-friendly — easier boarding with prams and small kids (see our family guide).
- Late-night comfort for solo female travellers.
Practical Tips
- Gentlemen accompanying family: the group can either all use standard cabins together, or split at the pink line — walking through the women's cabin "just to pass" still counts as a violation.
- The boundary inside the train is clearly marked on the floor and windows; inspectors patrol daily, and fines are issued on the spot (full rules & fines).
- At crowded stations like Union and BurJuman, the pink platform section has its own queue — join the marked lanes.
